Óbuda has two faces: alongside Békásmegyer and Kaszásdűlő's panel blocks, Csillaghegy and Ürömhegy have detached family homes. In panel flats, the outdoor unit almost always sits on the balcony or façade — accessibility is the key factor when cleaning. Óbuda also has many loft conversions: in attic flats, the air conditioner runs almost non-stop in summer heat.
In panel flats, the outdoor unit is usually on the balcony rail or parapet. It's easy to clean from there, but we need clear access — we can't work if furniture, bikes or drying racks are in the way.
Higher air humidity near the river means more condensation in the indoor unit. This encourages mould and odours, so annual bag-method cleaning is especially recommended here.
Flats near Szentendrei Road and Bécsi Road get soot and dust buildup faster. Between cleanings, rinse the indoor filter monthly — you can do this yourself.
Under the roof, summer heat keeps the air conditioner running constantly. For these units, cleaning the fan motor delivers the biggest improvement — this part is responsible for airflow.
