In Józsefváros, the old rental housing stock of Palotanegyed stands alongside the new apartment buildings of Corvin-negyed. The two building types have completely different air conditioning behaviour: in older flats, retrofitted individual units; in newer ones, factory-designed systems, often with multiple indoor units. The district's third character is Tisztviselőtelep: detached houses with uniform design and a wholly different air conditioning situation than the rental blocks.
In Corvin-negyed flats, the air conditioner is often part of the mechanical design, with the outdoor unit on the roof or behind a façade cover. If it's not accessible, we can still clean the indoor unit.
Palotanegyed flats often have 10+ year old equipment. We don't work on units over 15 years old, or on designer or portable models — the aged plastic housing can crack during disassembly.
In small flats with many occupants, the air conditioner runs all summer. For heavily used units, cleaning the indoor fan drum (squirrel cage) brings the biggest improvement to airflow.
In these houses, the outdoor unit is typically in the garden or on the side wall — in an easily accessible spot. But grass clippings and dust easily get into ground-level units.
